When Robert Mondavi chose To Kalon Vineyard as the home for this new winery in 1966, he remarked, “It was a vineyard with a distinguished history. Ideal soils, sunlight, and rain. To my eye, the vineyard was a treasure.” Originally planted in 1868, it has become recognized as one of the finest vineyards in the world.
Aromas: Black cherry, graham cracker, black olive, and cedar complemented by notes of dried sage and sweet tarragon.
Flavours: A concentrated core of dark and red berry fruit, wrapped in black spice, graphite,
and savory herb notes.
Body: Rich and concentrated with an unmistakable presence for such a young wine. Tannins are longer grain and more pronounced, and the lengthy finish just
keeps going.
